Alma's Story

Alma Katherine Jones, 87, Greensburg, gained her angel wings surrounded by her children on Friday, April 7, 2017, at Morning Breeze Health Care Center. She was born June 29, 1929, in Decatur County, daughter of Lonnie & Katie (Elliott) Switzer.
She graduated from Westport High School in 1947 and retired from James Rivers after 27 years of service. She loved sewing, crafts and flowers. She had owned her own flower shop for several years.
She married Eugene Jones on April 13, 1963, in Gainesboro, Tennessee, and he preceded her in death Aug. 3, 2016.
She is survived by her children, Kathy (Ray) Welsh of Albany, Kentucky, Robert Darby of Greensburg, Patty Meneely of Columbus and Pam (Glenn) Wilson of Greensburg; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years; parents; sisters, Dorothy Fall and Betty Conrad; one grandson; one great-grandson; and one great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12 at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home. Pastor Tyler Leeds of Mt. Aerie Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Aerie Cemetery.
