Amy's Story

Amy Ann Osting, 86, of Milan, formerly of Greensburg, passed away at 1:46 p.m. on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Ripley Crossing Nursing Home. She was born on April 27, 1931 in Decatur County, the daughter of Walter B. and Roxie C. (Mozingo) Reed. Amy was a lifelong resident of Decatur County and had graduated from Greensburg High School in 1949. She worked as a waitress at the Country Club and was a Rural Mail Carrier for 23 years. She also worked at the Ranch Super Market at Shelbyville in the office as a cashier for eight years. She is a member of the Rural Carriers Association, the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church where she had served as a trustee. Amy enjoyed feeding birds, raccoons and her cats. She collected rocks and enjoyed flower gardening. She had five acres of woods she kept clean and mowed herself along with doing the church yard work. She had married Maurice Osting at the Greenburg Baptist Parsonage on April 14, 1950 and he preceded her in death on October 25, 2001. Survivors include her daughter, Maura Beth (Darryl) Lutes of Butlerville; her sisters, Carol S. Reed of Bright and Marilyn Burton of Westport; her 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Lynn Ellen England and sister, Mary Jane Reed. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Rev. Connie Barr officiating. Burial will follow at the Union Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday from Noon until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
