Arlene E. Johnson, 83, of Waldron, passed away on Jan. 20, 2017, at Arbor Grove Village in Greensburg.
She was born on May 10, 1933, in Milan to Leonard and Ardis (Bare) Moore. She married Warren Johnson on Feb. 17, 1953
and he survives.
Other survivors include three children, Denny W. Johnson (companion, Jackie Evans) of Waldron, Terry Johnson (wife, Linda G.) of
Waldron, and Cindy Best (husband, Steve) of Waldron; two sisters, Eileen Braun and Donna Thoms, both of Indianapolis; seven
grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Tom Johnson; granddaughter, Tammy Johnson; and grandparents, Lewis and Esther Bare.
Arlene lived in this area for 60 years, having moved from Napoleon. She graduated from New Point High School and was a member of
St. Vincent Catholic Church. She was a school teacher at Waldron and Shelbyville Middle School for 20 years. She was a Waldron Eastern Star
Matron of Honor.
Arlene loved square dancing with her husband, and clogging. She was an accomplished seamstress and had owned and operated a fabric store in Waldron for many years. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Glenn E. George Funeral Home, 106 E. Franklin, St. Paul, with visitation there on Monday, January 23, from 4-8 p.m. Pastor Marcy Patrick will officiate, and burial will be in Napoleon Cemetery in Napoleon.
Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home.
