Billy Gene Huey, 84, Greensburg, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2017, at Aspen Place Health Campus. He was born Dec. 4, 1932, in Jennings County, son of Wilson and Elsie Mae (Wheatley) Huey.
He moved to Decatur County at eight-years-old. He graduated from Napoleon High School in 1950 and was a self-employed truck driver for 54 years.
Mr. Huey was a member of Union Baptist Church and had served with the Indiana National Guard for three years.
His hobbies included growing roses, collecting antiques and collectibles, especially Iron Ware pottery.
He married Eleanor Louise Miller Dec. 7, 1952, at Napoleon Lutheran Church, and she survives.
Other survivors include his daughters, Shirley (David) Dotson, Shelbyville and Bonnie (Michael) Robbins, Greensburg; sons, Ronald (Janice) Huey, Letts, Wayne (Darlene) Huey, Jamesport, Missouri and Gerald (Sue) Huey, Greensburg; sister, Madge (Russell) Stephens, Osgood; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Wanda Manlief and Juanita Harrison; brother, Earl W. Huey; great-grandson, William Edward Maze.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10 at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home. Funeral services begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 11 at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Bell officiating. Burial to follow at Union Baptist Cemetery.
