Carmelita D. Wasson, 66, of Indianapolis, passed away Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017, at IU Methodist Hospital.
Born Jan. 27, 1951, in Pangasinan, Philippines, she was the daughter of Labrado and Marcelina
Mrs. Wasson had lived in this area for 35 years, after moving from the Philippines. She was a self-employed hair stylist, and had attended IUPUI and graduated from PJ's Beauty College.
She was a member of USKA, PKC, and Herb Johnson's Olympic Karate Studios.
Carmelita loved gardening, shopping, and crafts, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
She married James E. Wasson on Oct. 9, 1971, and he survives in Indianapolis.
Other survivors include her children, Anita Wasson of Indianapolis, and Allan (Anjum) Wasson of
Indianapolis; sister, Marcela Torres of the Philippines; and grandchildren, Austin, Ashton, Cedric, and Cai.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her beloved father-in-law, Harry Wasson.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the start of funeral services at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 6 at Glenn E. George Funeral Home, 106 E. Franklin St. in St. Paul. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Shelby County.
