Clarence Eugene "Corky" Carson, 83, of New Point, succumbed to heart failure Friday, Dec. 16, 2016 at Aspen Place Health Center in Greensburg. He was cared for by his wife, Helen, at home for four years, spending the last two years at Aspen Place. Clarence was born Dec. 14, 1933, in New Point. He was the son of William and Velma (Barkley) Carson.
He graduated from New Point High School in 1951 and was later hired at Bohn Aluminum on Nov. 3, 1952. He retired after 45 years as a tool and die maker.
He married his sweetheart, Helen Faye Haley, on Nov. 28, 1953; they were blessed with 63 years of marriage.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Helen; children, Mark (Patricia) Carson of Osgood, Debra (David) Yeggy of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Diane (Jesus) Celaya, Mesa, Arizona; sisters, Ethel June McFerson-West, Orlando, Florida and Doris Jean Donovan-Stiles, Orlando, Florida; brother, Arthur (Wilma) Carson, Orlando, Florida; grandchildren, Jodi Collins, Christina Summey, Elizabeth McCarty, Craig Carson, Rebecca Carson, Jordan Yeggy, Jared Yeggy, Danae Yeggy, Corey Celaya, and Anthony Celaya; great-grandchildren, Emma McCarty, Tanner McCarty, Logan Summey, Ethan Summey, Olivia Collins, and Austin Collins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 20 at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg and one hour prior to the funeral. Funeral services begin at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at New Point Christian Church with Rev. Mark Vice officiating. Burial will follow at Rossburg Cemetery.
