David's Story

David Jeff Murray, 68 of Laurel, passed away on December 16, 2017 in Rushville. He was born on January 12, 1949 in Laurel, IN to the late Robert J. and Dovie (Wolfe) Murray. David married Donna (Schalk) Murray on September 28, 1991 and she survives. He was a member of the Buena Southern Missionary Baptist Church. David worked at Visteon in Connersville for over 22 years. His real passion was farming and raising livestock with his family.
David is survived by his loving sons, Charles Murray of Laurel and Daniel (Brooke) Murray of Laurel; daughters, Tracey (Randy) Atkinson of Greensburg and Robin (Steve) Murrell of Laurel; 6 brothers, Thomas (Dorothy) Murray of Laurel, Douglas (Lou) Murray of Connersville, Lonnie (Linda) Murray of Connersville, Phillip (Royetta) Murray of Connersville, Kenneth (Faye) Murray of Connersville, Paul (Brenda) Murray of Greensburg; 6 sisters, Betty Jean (Elmer) Roberts of Irvine, KY, Bonnie Sue (Jack) Ball of Shelbyville, Alice Faye (Bruce) Howe of Lewisville, Jennie Elizabeth (Gary) Bare of Newpoint, Sharon Kay Murray of Greensburg and Lisa Ann Murray of Whitestown; 10 grandchildren, Taylor Atkinson , Jacob Atkinson and Justin Atkinson, Robert Murray, Rachel Murray and Jemma Murray, Sheridan Murrell, William Murrell, Lacey Murrell and Sara Murrell.
David is also preceded in death by his first wife, Rita Sue (Napier) Murray and brothers, Darrell Murray and Edward Murray.
Services will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Buena Southern Missionary Baptist Church, with Brother Rob Edwards presiding. Friends are welcome to visit at the church Friday evening from 4-8 PM. Burial will be in Laurel North Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made out to American Lung Association, American Kidney Association or to the Buena Southern Missionary Baptist Church.
David's outlandish sense of humor will be missed by many.
