Edith's Story

Edith L. Edie Middendorf, 72 of Westport passed away at 8:50 a.m. on Monday, December 4, 2017 at Our Hospice Inpatient Facility in Columbus. She was born on September 30, 1945 in Greensburg, the daughter of Edwin Thomas and Ruth Virginia (Miles) Ferdinand. Edie was a lifelong resident of Decatur County and graduated from Sandcreek High School in 1963. She worked at Cummins Electronics for 10 years and Wheaton Tubing / Alcan Packaging for 17 years. She enjoyed horseback riding, bird watching, and crocheting. She married Jerry Middendorf on October 30, 1986 in Nashville, Tennessee and he survives. Other survivors include her daughters, Sandi (Jeff) Beier of West Harrison and Pam Sanders of Columbus; sister, Charlotte (Jack) Ogle of Greensburg; grandsons, Brandon (Amanda) Sallee of Bright, Aaron Biltz of Westport and Charlie (Taylor) Sanders of Columbus; great grandchildren, Chloe Duenhoft, Dalton Sallee and Austin Sanders. She was preceded in death by her parents. Following her wishes she will be cremated and a private service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association 1 of 1000 or Our Hospice Inpatient Facility.
