Eugenia M. Fussner, 86, of Rushville, died peacefully Monday evening, March 13, 2017, at Rush Memorial Hospital. Born Nov. 24, 1930, in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was the daughter of Leo and Loretta Gutzwiller.
She was a 1949 graduate of Connersville High School. After graduation, she worked at Public Service in Connersville.
She married Francis (Fritz) Fussner on April 26, 1958, and he survives. They met at the Raleigh Community Club, where they loved to dance.
She was a loving wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, and bookkeeper for Fussner Farms for over 50 years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, dancing and playing with her grandchildren. In her later years, she enjoyed working puzzles and reading. She had a great smile and legendary laugh.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where she served on the funeral dinner committee for many years. She also helped make the noodles for the St. Mary's Fall Festival.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Beverly Gahimer of Greensburg, Jeffrey (Dana) Fussner, Pamela (Jim) Hoeing, Gary Fussner, and Thomas Fussner, all of Rush County. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Amber (Jeremy) Effing, Jason (Jessica) Gahimer, Hannah McGee, Amy (Kyle) Robbins, Allison (Curtis) Collins, and Adam Hoeing; great-grandchildren, Carter and Ella Ann Gahimer and Cooper and Colby Robbins; and sisters, Janice Gutzwiller and Mary Ann (Clem) Miller from Connersville.
She was preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law, Steve Gahimer.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 16 at Todd Funeral Home in Rushville. A rosary service will be held at 3:45 p.m. Mass of Christian burial begins at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 17 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Rushville, with Father Jeremy Gries officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Rushville.
