Gabriel "Rose"'s Story
Gabriel "Rose" Sachiko Callahan, 49, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017, quietly at her home in Elizabethtown, following a battle with stage 4 colon cancer.
Rose was born July 3, 1967, in Japan, to Yasuto and Kiyoko Uchihori. She came to the United States at age 22 and became an American citizen when she was 30 years old.
She was a member of Saint Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church. Rose had been employed in the administration department at KN Platech in Shelbyville until she become disabled in 2014. Previously, she had been employed at Honda in Greensburg.
Rose is survived by her parents, Yasuto and Kiyoko Uchihori, and her brother, Hikaru Uchihori, all of Yokohama Japan; son, Jimmy Callahan and his father, Russell Callahan, both of Columbus; and companion, Steve Schoettmer of Elizabethtown.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 13 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home, with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial begins at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14 at Saint Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church with Father Andy Syberg officiating.
