George "Bob" Martin, 75, of Greensburg passed away at 3:25 a.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2017, at his residence.
He was born on Nov. 18, 1941, at New Marion, Indiana, the son of Hazel "Slick" and Virginia (Robertson) Martin. He attended school at Central School on Ryker's Ridge in Madison.
He owned and operated Martin & Bowen Trucking. He also drove for Barber Grocery in Madison and delivered the Sunday Indianapolis Star Newspaper. He served seven years with the Indiana National Guard. His interests and hobbies included mechanics, gardening, raising animals and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was first married to Diana Moreland in 1960 and then married Ann Bowen of Greensburg in 1981. She survives along with his children, Scott (Reneigh) Martin, Susan Martin Bruther and Greg Martin; his stepdaughters, Tammi Roberts, Jan (Imran) Ahmed and Nikki Combs; his sisters, Treva (Pat) Moreland and Cheryl (Vernon) Geiss; his 23 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother Richard Ellis Martin.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home with Pastor Bennie Robbins officiating. Burial will follow at Westport Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
