Iris's Story

Iris L. Scheibler, 77, of Greensburg, passed away at 4:10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana. She was born in a log cabin on a hill in Lewis County, Kentucky on April 3, 1940 the daughter of Robert L. and Clara L. (Evans) Grigson. She was raised in Ogden and Rushville and was a 1958 graduate of Rushville High School. She had been a resident of Greensburg since 1967. She retired in 2010 from the OB Dept. at Decatur County Memorial Hospital after 41 years of service. Iris was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday school and was a former pianist. She enjoyed crocheting. Iris was a loving woman who built a close family network. Her kind nature extended beyond her family and she welcomed many others into her home when a hand up was what he or she needed. Survivors include daughters, Teresa (Michael) Frakes of Columbus, Penny (Jeffrey) Williams of Greensburg, Lorena (Jonny) Poyner of Houston, Mississippi, Carla Moreland of Greensburg; son, Robert (Debbie) Scheibler of Shelbyville; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Eunice Welsko and Ramona Sorrell; brother, Milford Grigson and grandson, Jefferson Williams, Jr. Services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Greensburg. Chuck Gerrian will officiate with burial to follow at Hebron Cemetery in Adams. Friends may call at the Cornerstone Baptist Church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideon Memorial Bible Program through the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home. The funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home.
