Jacob Henry Ping, 33, of Rushville, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2017, at home surrounded with love, family, and friends. Jacob was born Oct. 31st, 1983, to Wayne and Anne (Coleman) Ping, at Major Hospital in Shelbyville.
He attended Milroy Elementary and graduated from RCHS in 2002, where he was an active member of FFA and 10 year member of 4H. After graduation, he went on to get a certification in welding.
Jacob was a man of many skills, and if he didn't know how, he would learn. He loved to work, to build, and create. He grew up on the family farm, worked as a welder and on small engines. Jacob loved IH tractors, collecting guns, woodworking, and gardening.
In the past few years, Jacob's favorite hobby was cooking. He loved the challenge of a new recipe and planned to perfect each one.
Jacob is survived by his wife, Marci (Davis), and dog, Max; parents; brothers, William Ping, Matthew (Stacia Phelps) Ping; in-laws, Joni (Peterson) Davis, Mark and Debbie (Russell) Davis, Trent and Amanda (Yager) Davis, Stephanie (Walter) and Jonny Moore, and Steven Davis; nieces and nephews, Madison, Connor, and Noah Ping, Alaina Davis, and Payton Moore; godchildren, Lilli and Layton Rapp; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Jacob was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wilbur and Mary (Jones) Ping, Doris LaVon (Hite Overlease) Ping, and Harold and Norma (Meador) Coleman.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10 at Todd Funeral Centre & Crematory. A Celebration of Life service begins at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 11 at the funeral centre with Scott Tebbe officiating. Burial will follow at East Hill Cemetery in Rushville.
