James Riley George, 93, of Spiceland, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016, at the Waters of New Castle following a brief illness. He was born March 26, 1923, in Owen County, Indiana, the son of the late Earl Washington and Ida Mae (Stevens) George.
He retired from Chrysler after 43 years of employment. Jim was a member of the New Lisbon Christian Church and had served as an Elder and Sunday School Teacher at Sexton Christian Church. He enjoyed gardening and raising flowers and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He leaves to cherish his memory four sons, Roger (Carol) George of Norwalk, Ohio, Jim (Janet) George of Muncie, Dennis (Cathy) George of Spiceland, and Robert George of New Castle; daughter, Donna Sue (Tom) Roginski of Mertztown, Pennsylvania; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; nieces, Judy (Bob) Ludwig and Carole (Steve) Pine; nephews, Steve (Donna) Wilson and Charlie Joe (Mira) Wilson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Weber George; grandson, Andy George; brother, Dale George; and sisters, Edna Wilson and Martha Beck.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Funeral services begin at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 22 at the funeral home with Pastor Darryl Denney officiating. Burial will follow in Circle Grove Cemetery in Spiceland.
