Jerry L. Renfro, 77, of Westport, passed away Monday, June 26, 2017, at Decatur County Memorial Hospital. She was born March 4, 1940, in Corydon, daughter of Edward and Lagatha (Carroll) Byrns.
She was raised in Corydon and had been a Westport resident since 1969. She graduated from Corydon Central High School in 1958 and the Kentucky Baptist School of Nursing in 1961 at Louisville, Kentucky.
She was a nurse at Decatur County Memorial Hospital and retired in 2002 after 30 years of service.
She was a member of Westport Baptist Church, where she headed up the Westport Clothes Closet and was a member of the Mission Circle.
She was also a member of the former Baker's Dozen Home Economics Club. She enjoyed quilting, needlepoint and crocheting.
She married Robert C. Renfro, Jr. on May 6, 1961, in Corydon, and he survives. Other survivors include her son, Robert Edward (Lakie) Renfro of Madison; daughter, Susan Cross of Westport; sister, Carroll (Kenneth) Gilham of Corydon; brother, Terry (Nancy) Byrns of Seymour; grandchildren, Jeffrey Stephens and Kimberly Cross of Westport, Wesley Renfro of Madison.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, James Byrns.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 29 at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home. Funeral services begin at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 30, at the funeral home, with Rev. David Scaggs officiating. Burial will follow at Westport Cemetery.
