John Phillip Haehl, 74, of Greensburg, passed away Monday, Feb. 20, 2017, at his home. He was born in Shelbyville on March 20, 1942, to Wallace and Gladys (Lewellyn) Haehl.
John was a 1961 graduate of Manilla High School and served in the US Coast Guard from 1961 to 1965. He then served in the Reserves for two years. He spent most of his life in the Manilla area.
John was a truck driver for many years and also worked security for a while. He was a member of Manilla Christian Church, where he played the organ on occasion.
He is survived by his brother, Clayton (Mary) Haehl of Pulaski, Tennessee; sister, Elaine Six of Rushville; two nieces and four nephews.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25 at Moster Mortuary in Rushville. Pastor John Wall will preside over services. Burial will be in Arlington East Hill Cemetery. The Rush County Veteran's Honor Guard will provide military honors at the mortuary.
