Joni A. Alverson

Joni Ann Alverson, age 60, passed away in the loving presence of her family at her residence in Rushville, Indiana on May 17, 2018. She was born to the late Dale L. and Ruth (Meyer) Clark on June 10, 1957.

After graduating from Rushville Consolidated High School in 1975, Joni attended Indiana University, Bloomington where she studied marketing in the School of Business. Joni made a career in the insurance industry, working most recently as a Senior Marketing Associate at the Rushville office of Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance and Incorporated Marketing Associate of Rush County Farm Bureau, Inc. Throughout her lifelong residence in Rushville, she was involved in the community in various clubs and organizations including Tri Kappa philanthropic sorority, Pioneer Engineers Club of Indiana, Optimist Club of Rushville, and Hannegan Christian Church.

On October 24, 1998, Joni married Steve Alverson, who survives. She was a loving and devoted mother to her two sons, Carl (Lauren Perin) Liggett and Curt Liggett, both of Rushville. She is also survived by her twin brother, David (Kristal) Clark of Indianapolis, and her sister, Julie (Kevin) Mahan of Rushville. Joni was a beloved aunt to her nieces, Anne Clark Mertensmeyer and Christine Clark Hackett, both of Indianapolis, and to Katherine Mahan McClellan and Kristin Mahan Scheumann, both of Fort Wayne. To her great-niece and four great-nephews, she was affectionate and adoring "JoJo."

Family and friends were Joni's heart and joy. Sunday evening dinners with her boys were a source of great happiness in her life. A talented home decorator, Joni took care in curating a beautiful, welcoming home and caring for her flower gardens. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and sampling restaurants with her cherished friends.

The family of Joni wishes to thank Our Hospice of South Central Indiana and members of the community who have extended their support and prayers on Joni's behalf. Joni battled cancer with dignity, strength, and great courage, and she requested that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society. Memorial donations may also be made to the Rush County Community Foundation. Services will be held on Monday, May 21, at 11:00 a.m. at Moster Mortuary, Rushville, with Reverend Warren Engel presiding. The family will receive visitors at the mortuary on Sunday, May 20, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at East Hill Cemetery.
