Max Shepherd, 80, of Hartsville, died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Born on Feb. 18, 1937, in Clifford, Max was the son of Grant and Lura (Robertson) Shepherd.
He married Maria L. Lockhart on Aug. 6, 1973, and she survives.
Max was a machinist at Rockwell Automation and other factories for over 30 years.
He was a member of Hartsville United Methodist Church. He enjoyed NASCAR, other auto racing, and watching classic westerns. He also enjoyed visiting and spending time with friends.
He spent the last two years of his life residing at Miller's Merry Manor.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Eric E. Shepherd of Hartsville; children from a previous marriage, Jennifer McNealy and Roger Shepherd, both of Greensburg; sisters, Maxine Howard and Ruth Boyle, both of Hartsville; and several nieces and nephews.
Max was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Thelma; and brother, Russell Shepherd.
Cremation is planned and a family gathering will be held at a later date.
