Michelle McAuliffe, 95, of Greensburg, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017, at Silver Oaks Nursing Home in Columbus. Michelle was born in Westport on Oct. 2, 1921, to Oran E. and Naomi (Lucas) McCullough.
Michelle graduated from Indiana University with a Master's Degree. She worked at Purdue. She was in the nunnery for 26 years and she was a third and fourth grade teacher at St. Mary's School for several years before retiring.
Michelle was a published author of children's short stories. She enjoyed writing and she was an excellent artist as well.
She was married to Robert W. McAuliffe on Dec. 27, 1975, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 22, 2017.
Michelle is survived by two step-daughters, Karen (Bill) McCart, of Columbus, and Lucinda (Jim) Bray, of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Mary Jane Hoeltke.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, March 27 at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. John Meyer officiating. Interment will be in Westport Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Decatur County Animal Shelter in Greensburg.
