Olas Denver Beckett, 78, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017, at the Rex Robley USVA Medical Center.
He was a Franklin County native and had retired from the old Naval Ordnance Facility in Louisville, Kentucky. He was also a farmer.
He had previously served as a volunteer fireman in Hartsville and was a US Army veteran.
He was a member of Edwardsville United Methodist Church.
On Sept. 3, 1960, he married Sandra R. Griner, and she survives.
In addition to his wife, Olas is survived by his son, Barry (Maite) Beckett of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; daughters, Betsy Beckett of Edinburgh and Polly D. (Vicki) Beckett of Corydon; brothers, Arnold E. Beckett of Hartsville, Harold Douglas Beckett and Roger R. Beckett, both of Greensburg; sister, Iris F. Czap of Edinburgh; grandchildren, Jarrett, Cody and Austin Beckett; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles D and Ethel (Roberts) Beckett; brother, Arthur C. Beckett; and sisters, Shirley Loper and Neosha Love.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29 at Edwardsville United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. Interment will be private at New Albany National Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Disabled American Veterans or the Crusade for Children.
