Ralph Bridge, 92, of Greenwood, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at Franciscan St. Francis. Born Dec. 26, 1924, in White County, Indiana, he was the son of Roy and Beatrice (Townsley) Bridge.
He married Margene (Favor) Bridge on Oct. 10, 1947, and she preceded him on Jan. 18, 1987. Ralph then married Betty (Best) Bridge on July 8, 1989, and she survives in Greenwood.
Mr. Bridge was a self-employed farmer and an auto and tractor mechanic his entire lifetime. He graduated from Idaville High School in 1942 and after graduation, joined the US Navy during WWII, where he served as a 2nd class gunner's mate.
He was a member of Union Chapel Methodist Church and also a member of St. Jude Catholic Church of Greenwood. He was a member of American Legion Post #0252 in Greenwood.
Ralph enjoyed fishing and attending his grandchildren's ball games. He loved playing basketball and baseball in his younger years, and enjoyed watching sports on TV.
In addition to his wife, he is survive by his daughters, Nancy (David) Benson of Greensburg, Sandra Blake of Indianapolis; stepdaughters, Barbara (Mike) Griffin of Nashville, Indiana, Karen (Jerry) Emlet of Indianapolis, Nancy (Dennis) Young of Indianapolis; brother, Paul (Kay) Bridge of Idaville, Indiana; sister Ruth (Glenn) Cosgray of Idaville; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Margene; and brothers, Harold, Howard, and Wayne Bridge.
Visitation will be from Noon until the start of funeral services at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 9, 2017, at Glenn E. George Funeral Home, 106 E. Franklin St., St. Paul. Rev. Stephen Banet and Pastor David Lee will officiate. Burial will be in Union Chapel Cemetery in Decatur County.
Memorial contributions can be made to Union Chapel Cemetery or St. Jude's Catholic Church, in care of the funeral home.
