Reverend Danny's Story

Reverend Danny J. Selby, 72, of Greenwood, passed away Tuesday morning, Nov. 22, 2016, at his home. He was born April 15, 1944, in Connersville, one of five children of Manthiel Courtney and Joyce (Shera) Selby.
He was a 1963 graduate of Connersville High School and received his Associates Degree from Indianapolis Bible College.
On Jan. 4, 1964, he was married in Connersville at Calvary Baptist Church to Darlene Rodgers of Connersville. Mrs. Selby survives.
His forty year ministry began in 1968, when he became the pastor of the Garrison Creek Baptist Church in Connersville. He then took the role of pastor at Fortville Baptist Church for over four years and then pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Ramsey, New Jersey. He then moved to Midland, Michigan where he was the pastor for five years at Midland Baptist Church. Reverend Selby then served as pastor at Faith Baptist Church in Greensburg, Indiana for 34 years.
In his leisure, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Amanda Adams of Greenwood; grandchildren, Gabriel Selby of Noblesville, Rebekah Adams and Joshua Adams both of Greenwood; great-granddaughter, Jaydson Marie Adams; brother, Dallas Dean (Linda) Selby and his wife of Falmouth, Indiana; sisters, Beverly (Herman) Chaney of Falmouth and Cindy (David) Buckley of Connersville; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his son, David Courtney Selby who passed away Aug. 6, 2015; parents; and sister, Linda Frazier Johnson.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 28 at Miller Moster Robbins Funeral Home, 1704 Grand Avenue, Connersville. Funeral services begin at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at Connersville Baptist Temple, 1380 IN-44, Connersville. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery.
