Richard Denton Conwell, 81, of Indianapolis, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017. He was born June 10, 1935, in Westport, to the late Eugene D. and Bessie Irene (Manuel) Conwell.
Richard was a graduate of Tech High School and Butler University. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
Richard was a licensed registered Pharmacist and retired from Abbott Laboratories as a sales representative after 33 years of dedicated service.
Fondly known by family and friends as Dick, he was a faithful member of Irvington United Methodist Church, and a true Bulldog and member of the Butler Alumni Association. He was also an avid Colts, Pacers, and race fan who loved to travel.
Richard is survived by his son, Gregg D. (Ellie) Conwell; daughter, Stacy Ann Verbarg; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Janice K. Bash Conwell.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 24 at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 E. Washington St. Funeral services begin at noon on Saturday, March 25 at the funeral home, with visitation one hour prior to service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Irvington United Methodist Church and/or National Parkinson Foundation.
