Robert "Bill" William Barnes, 69, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017, at Decatur County Memorial Hospital. Bill was born Feb. 3, 1948, in Shelbyville, the son of Robert Barnes and Alene (Whited) Colestock.
Bill married H. Kaye Owens on April 29, 1972, in Greensburg, and she survives.
Bill worked for 14 years at K. S. Bearings until it closed and then went to work as a janitor at the Greensburg High School for six years until he retired. He was a member of the First Church of God.
Bill loved to cook, golfing, and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He also enjoyed building and flying model airplanes and collecting and shooting guns.
In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his daughter, Christa (Darren) Barker of Greensburg; sister, Susie Fleming of Greensburg; grandchildren, Brooklynn Barnes, Alyssa Barnes, Brayden Barker, Bryce Barker and Ethan Barnes; and nephews, Scott (Janet) Baker and JJ Baker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Chad Barnes; and brother, Ronald Barnes.
Funeral services begin at 5 p.m. on Monday, April 10 at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home. Visitation will follow the funeral service from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
