Robert W. McAuliffe, 91, of Greensburg, passed away Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017, at Silver Oaks Nursing Home in Columbus. Born Nov. 17, 1925, in Shelbyville, he was the son of Charles P. and Zella (Thompson) McAuliffe.
Robert had worked as a communications engineer for Teletronics in the Westport and Greensburg area until his retirement in 1995.
He served in the Navy in WW II and was stationed in Hawaii in radio communications. Robert had many hobbies, including building airplanes and flying them in competitions, and archery, where he won several competitions. He was a horse handler for his daughter when she showed horses. He was a ham radio operator, building his own ham radio.
He was married to Michelle McCullough on Dec. 27, 1975, and she survives.
He is also survived by his daughters, Karen (Bill) McCart, of Columbus, and Lucinda (Jim) Bray, of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Jean McAuliffe.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. John Meyer officiating. Interment will be held in Westport Cemetery.
