Robert L. "Mac" McNeely, 47, of St. Paul, passed away Monday, Aug. 7, 2017, at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born March 14, 1970, the son of Wilbert L. and Joyce (Stewart) McNeely.
He graduated from North Decatur High School in 1988.
He was a US Air Force veteran, retiring as Master Sergeant. Mac served for two years in the Philippines, and at Andrews Air Force Base, where he deployed to Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He also served at Bolling Air Force Base in DC, where he deployed to Afghanistan.
He married Julianne Stone on Oct. 14, 2000, and she survives in St. Paul.
Robert had lived in the area for seven years, after moving from Richmond, Indiana. He worked as a machine tech at Valeo for five years.
He was a member of St. Paul Christian Church. Robert loved NASCAR, Star Wars, and spending time with his children and family.
In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by his daughters, Samantha McNeely, Emily McNeely, and Madeline McNeely, all of St. Paul; siblings, Diane McNeely of St. Paul, Marjorie (Ricky Davidson) McNeely-Schene of St. Paul, Kelly (Dan) Bly of Texas, and Julie McNeely of Indianapolis; nephews, Ian Lametta of New York and George Becker of Indianapolis; and niece, Sada Stone, of Tacoma Park, Maryland.
He was preceded in death by his father; brother, David W. McNeely; and nephew, Matthew E. Schene.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 11 at Glenn E. George Funeral Home in St. Paul, 106. E. Franklin St. Funeral services begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 12 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Paul Hill Cemetery in St. Paul, with military graveside rites conducted by the local veterans organization.
