Ruth's Story

Ruth M. (Kaiser) Meyer, 93, of Greensburg, formerly of Madison and Aurora, passed away Friday, April 7, 2017, at the Waters of Batesville. She was born May 22, 1923, in Dover, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Andrew Charles and Susan (Barker) Kaiser.
She was raised in Dover and graduated from Guilford High School and later attended secretarial school. She was raised in St. John Catholic Church (now All Saints).
Ruth was united in marriage to William J. Meyer in Dover, Indiana, on Feb. 8, 1943, and he precede dher in death Dec. 7, 1997. This happy union of 54 years was blessed with daughters, Kathryn, Paula, and Carla and sons, James, Mark, and John.
For 55 years, the family lived in Aurora, where Ruth was a devoted wife, loving mother, and grandmother. They were members of St. Mary Catholic Church in Aurora.
Ruth sold Avon for many years and enjoyed her many customers.
After the death of her husband, Ruth lived in Madison from 1997-2013 and she was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Ruth enjoyed gardening, especially raising violets, orchids, reading, raising canaries, knitting, crocheting and sewing.
After moving to Greensburg, Ruth became a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
Ruth will be missed by her loving daughters, Kathryn (Chris) Ryan of Seabrook Island, South Carolina, Paula A. (Gene) Meyer Shaw of Cincinnati, Ohio, Carla (Steve Cole) Meyer Stillwell of Madison; son, Father John A. Meyer of Greensburg; loving daughters-in-law, Debra (Terry) Meyer Reuland of Hidden Valley Lake, Sofia (Guy) Meyer Wolf of Brandon, Florida; loving grandchildren, Britta, Kristin, Jeremy, Abbey, Audrey, Patrick, Tony, William, Erika, Jennifer, Stephen and Kristian; 20-great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Father Benedict Meyer of Saint Meinrad, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her father, Andrew Charles Kaiser ( 1986); mother, Susan Barker Kaiser (1974); beloved husband, William J. Meyer (1997); loving sons, Mark Andrew Meyer (September 24, 1987) and James W. Meyer (June 20, 2002).
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11 and from 9 a.m. until the start of Mass on Wednesday, April 12 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1331 E. Hunter Robbins Way. There will be a prayer service at the conclusion of the visitation. Mass of Christian Burial begins at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the church, celebrated by Father John A. Meyer. Interment will follow at River View Cemetery in Aurora.
