Sarah's Story

Text size

Tuesday, June 13, 2017, we lost an amazing mother and friend.
Sarah Elisabeth Richter, 39, was one of the most passionate and uplifting people you would ever meet. She truly owned her red hair, and fully embraced the stereotype that came with it. Sarah, or "Red" as many called her, was not afraid to speak her mind or be there for those she loved. She was always laughing and made sure that those around her were, as well. Her laugh was genuinely contagious and she had a humor of her own.
Sarah's devotion and kind heart left a mark on so many people. Sarah truly believed her sole purpose in life was to raise and love her two children. They were her pride and joy. She was also a mom and a friend to many other children, gaining the nickname "Momma Sarah" as well. Sarah will be greatly missed by so many, but she will forever live on in our memories as the spunky red head we all loved.
Missing her are her daughter, Carmen Zavala; son, Taylor Zavala; parents, Gary Richter and Donna Taylor; brothers, Todd Richter, Gary Richter Jr.; and sister, Samantha Cooley.
A brother, Eric Richter, preceded her in death.
Visitation is from 2 p.m. until the start of a Celebration of Life service at 5 p.m., officiated by Jeff Sangl, on Monday, June 19 at Todd Funeral Centre & Crematory in Rushville.
