Shirley's Story

Shirley Mae Reed, 68, of Greensburg passed away on September 13, 2017 at Heritage House in Greensburg, Indiana. Shirley was born on July 12, 1949 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Raymond, Sr. and Veronica (Grillot) Metzger. She was a 1968 graduate of Trotwood-Madison High School, in Trotwood, Ohio. She worked as a bookkeeper over the years for AMOCO, Dust ALL Janitorial, Reeds Trailer Park, and the Holy Trinity Church. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Church, where she was the former Treasurer, a Ladies Aide Member, and she was involved with the Youth Group and The Puppeteers. Shirley loved sewing, crafts, and reading. She believed in helping protect the environment and endangered species, her favorite animal was the wolf.
Survivors include: Daughter- Nickie (Pat) Colson; Son- Nathaniel Reed; Grandchildren- Alex Colson, Tom Colson, Julia Colson, Allyson Reed, Katelynn Reed, and Matthew Reed all of Greensburg, Indiana; Sisters- Esther Lloyd, Kate (William) Doyle, and Mary (Bill) Lawson; and Brothers Raymond Jr. (Patty) Metzger and John (Cindy) Metzger all from Ohio; Several Nieces and Nephews; and the nursing home staff and her friends at Heritage House. She was preceded in death by her Father- Raymond Metzger, Sr.; Mother- Veronica Metzger; Sister- Anna Marie Metzger; Nephew- Paul Metzger; and Brother in Law- Tim Lloyd.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home on Sunday, September 17, 2017 from 1:00 pm until the time of the Funeral at 3:00 pm. Delana Pratt will be the celebrant for the service. Graveside services will be on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Trotwood, Ohio.
