Willa M. Knarr


Willa M. Knarr, 90, of Greensburg, passed away at 6:25 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Heritage House Nursing Home in Greensburg. She was born on January 18, 1929 in Decatur County, the daughter of Thomas A. & Minnie (Mantooth) Giddings. She was a lifelong resident of Decatur County and was a member of Union Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing and gardening. She married John W. Knarr at Union Baptist Church on August 25, 1968. He preceded her in death on October 31, 2013. Survivors include her son, William Dale (Sheral) Merritt of Greensburg, step-daughters, DeeDee (Roy) Cross of Columbus and Jane (Bill) Hitchcock of Greensburg; brothers, Marvin L. Giddings, James Giddings and Maurice Thomas Giddings all of Greensburg; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughters, Karen Innis & Roxy Merritt; son, Rollin Merritt; sister, Wilma K. Wright; brother, Earl Giddings; grandsons, Andy Merritt & Robert Brown and a great granddaughter. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 26, 2019 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Dr. Robb Barlow officiating. Burial will follow at Union Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, April 25, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice, Union Baptist Church or Union Baptist Cemetery. Online condolences can be made to the family at www.bassgasper.com

Aunt Willa,
I am so sorry about your passing. I loved you and cherish the time I had with you . To William I am sorry about your mom and and to the rest. Of the family I send my condolences. Matt I know how much you loved your grandmother. I wish I could be with you all, but can’t make it due to health reasons. God bless you all. All my my love is with you all.

Michelle, Again I was so sorry to hear of your grandma's passing. I remember a few trips out to her house, the garden they planted and her flowers. I know Candy-Puppy, as we called her, loved it out there. Sending love & hugs

she was so sweet lady and will remember her as she is my secret candy giver i surely miss her
