William E. "Dobber" Garrett, 81, of St. Paul passed away from complications of Parkinson's Disease on Jan. 9, 2017, at Waldron Health and Rehab.
He was born on March 20, 1935 to Eugene Garrett and Virginia (Roedell) Garrett in Sandusky. He married Lynda (Hill) Garrett on June 13, 1964, and she survives.
Other Survivors include sons, Curtis (Carri) Garrett of Monticello, Steven (Linda Wagner) Garrett of Greensburg, Richard (Jackie) Colee of St. Paul; daughter, Stacy (Jeffrey) Shouse of New Point; grandchildren, Brooke (Matthew) Shoup of Indianapolis, Dr. Craig Shouse of Chicago,Illinois, and Michael Colee of Waldron; and great-grandchildren, Caleb Shoup, Amelia Shoup, and McKenzie Colee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Judith Garrett.
Bill was a lifetime resident of St. Paul. He was a salesman for Monarch Beverage retiring in 2000 and he also was the owner/operator of Tree City Beverage and owner/operator of Bill Garrett Trucking.
He graduated from St. Paul High School. He was a member of the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. He was a past president of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, a member of the Moose lodge, the fraternal order of police, and he also served as the St. Paul Town Marshall for 13 yrs, serving both Decatur and Shelby Counties, and was a 60 yr member of the St. Paul Volunteer Fire Dept. Bill was also a member of the Indiana Volunteer Firefighter Association.
Bill loved his hobbies, which included racing. He started racing midgets at the age of 19. He loved the outdoors. Bill never knew a stranger. He enjoyed attending Colts Games, he loved life, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.
In Memory of Bill, the family has requested casual attire or Colts attire for the viewing and service.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at noon at the Glenn E. George Funeral Home St. Paul with visitation from 10-noon. Dr. Robb Barlow will be officiating. Burial will be at Paul Hill Cemetery in St. Paul. Memorial Donations may be made to the St. Paul Volunteer Fire Dept or the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
