Clarence (Sonny) Elmer Chappelow, 87
Clarence (Sonny) Elmer Chappelow, 87, of Indianapolis and formerly of Noble Township, passed away July 14, 2016 at Community South Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born Aug. 4, 1928, in Shelby County to Clarence T. and Eva (Beagle) Chappelow. He married Christine (Smothers) Chappelow on Dec. 26, 1951 and she survives. Clarence was a lifelong resident of Noble Township and a 1946 graduate of Waldron High School. He served in the US Army 82nd Airborne during the Korean War. He worked as a supervisor for International Harvester and was a member of Wesley Chapel Wesleyan Church. Clarence loved playing his guitar and fishing. Survivors include wife, Christine Chappelow, St. Paul; sons, Jeff (wife Dina) Chappelow, St. Paul, and Chad Chappelow, Shelbyville; daughters, Pamela Payne, Shelbyville, Connie (husband Larry) Meece, St. Paul; brother, Sandford (wife Kathy) Chappelow, Geneva, Ind.; sister, Joan Chappelow Elder, Shelbyville; grandchildren, Zandria Hopkins, Carina Gleissner, Christian Chappelow, Alicia Chappelow, Glydel Bless Guerrero, Jeffina Chappelow, Zachary Meece, Leeya Metz, Joshua Chappelow, Caleb Chappelow, Colin Chappelow, Nicole Nelson, Ashley Chappelow; and great-grandchildren, Lilly Hopkins, Ephram Hopkins, Charlie Meece, Ellie Metz, Emmy Metz, William Metz, Blake Chappelow, Kerriona Chappelow, Terence Chappelow, Gabriella Chappelow, Daniel Garrett Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John P. Chappelow, Paul Kenneth Chappelow, Jack Chappelow; and sisters, Carol Remmel and Thelma Jean Wisker Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. at Glenn E. George Funeral Home on Monday, July 18. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. at Glenn E. George Funeral home on Tuesday, July 19 with Rev. David Little officiating. Burial will be at Van Pelt Cemetery in Shelby County. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in care of the funeral home.
