Rushville, IN. - Dale H. Schwering, 91, of Rushville, passed away November 10, 2025. He was born September 16, 1934 in Millhousen to Frank & Elizabeth (Schoettmer) Schwering. Dale was a 1952 graduate of Sandusky High School and took the Purdue Short Course in Animal Husbandry in 1955. He married Shirley A. (Brewsaugh) on June 18, 1955 and she survives.

Dale began farming in Decatur County until moving to Rush County in 1970 and establishing himself as a lifelong farmer. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Rushville and member of the Knights of Columbus. He was involved in the Rural Couples Club of Greensburg and the Sandusky Alumni Association.

He leaves behind his wife, Shirley, of Rushville, children, Stephen (Marcia) Schwering of Rushville, Theresa (Wayne) Downey of Hope, Jeff Schwering of Rushville, Angela (Matt) Settles of Waldron, brother, Paul Schwering of Greensburg, 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Rosemary Wenning and Mary Catherine Schwering, brothers, Ralph & Richard Schwering.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 AM Saturday, November 15, 2025 in St. Mary Catholic Church in Rushville with Father Dustin Boehm presiding. Friends are welcome to visit the family in St. Mary Catholic Church from 9 AM until time of service Saturday. The Rosary will be recited at 8:30 AM prior to visitation. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Rushville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or to St. Mary Catholic Church.
