Rushville, IN. - Donna Sue Garner, 84, of Rushville, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 10, 2025, in Norman, Okla., where she had been living with her niece.

Born on February 14, 1941, in Greensburg, Donna was the daughter of Loren and Hazel (Robertson) Garner. She graduated from Greensburg High School in 1959, earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Hanover College in 1963, and later received her Master's in Education from Purdue University.

Donna moved to Rushville in 1963 to begin her teaching career. She devoted nearly four decades to the students at Rush County Middle School, primarily teaching math until her retirement in 2001. She was a longtime member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and was involved in numerous organizations, including the International Order of the Rainbow Girls, the Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Psi Iota Xi, Delta Kappa Gamma and Alpha Omicron Pi Sororities. Music was a life-long joy for Donna, she played both flute and piano, and sang in the Rush County Community Choir. Donna also loved traveling and cherished trips to Walt Disney World.

Donna will be missed by her family: two nieces, Candace Southard of Norman, and Melinda Garner of Atlanta, Ga.; a nephew, John (Melissa) Garner of Fort Wayne; and Shirley Jones of Rushville. She also leaves behind a host of great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, as well as many cherished friends and colleagues. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert Garner, and her sister Doris Gibbons.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2025, in Moster Mortuary, Rushville, with Pastor Lonny Goen officiating. Friends are welcome to visit the family from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. Burial will be in East Hill Cemetery.
