James Carl Wilson Obituary

Rushville, Indiana - James Carl Wilson, age 76, of Rushville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025, doing what he loved — enjoying the great outdoors. Jim was a soft spoken man with a big heart. He was the voice of reason and patriarch for his family. Jim enjoyed country rides, hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He was never one to turn down a good card game. Jim was born on July 8, 1949 in Harrison, Arkansas, to the late Corbet and Helen Wilson and moved with his family to Udall, Kansas, in 1959. He graduated from Udall high school in 1967 and married Sandra Oelschlager in 1968. They welcomed two sons, Jeff and Scott. In 1981, relocated their family to Rushville where Jim served as the Plant Superintendent at Copeland for 22 years.

Jim relocated to Miami, Florida for 6 years becoming Vice President of City Compressor before retiring and moving back to Rush County in 1996. Throughout his retirement, Jim was an avid real estate investor.

He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 38 years, Patricia (Mobley) Wilson. The couple united their families in 1987, and built a life rich with laughter and adventure. They enjoyed long drives through the country and embraced every moment spent in nature. Visiting family and creating beautiful memories with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought Jim immense joy.

Jim is also survived by his sister Darlene (Wilson) Ward, sons Jeff (Letitia) Wilson, Scott (Becky) Wilson, Brian (JoAnn) Miller, Shawn (Tiffany) Miller, and Jason Miller. He was a patient and loving grandfather to 14 grandchildren, Justin, Jessica (Bipes), and Melissa Wilson, Tristenn, Grant, Griffin, Gretchen, Molly, Jackson and Quinn Miller, Kenzie Ferguson, Dillon and Cory Tunny and Peyton Bower; 11 great-grandchildren, Jackson and Tucker Wilson, Emersyn, Blakely and Archie Bipes, Harper, Charlee and Shawn J. Miller, Emma and Jared Ailes and Aurora Tunny; and his special family friend, Rick Snapp.

Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra in 1986; parents, Corbet and Helen Wilson, and brothers, Bill and Tom Wilson.
