Janet Mae Bense, 93, of Hope, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at Arbor Grove Village in Greensburg.

Born on January 29, 1931 in Bartholomew County, Janet was the daughter of Uriah and Flora Mae Gore Dailey. She married Louis Bense on July 6, 1948, and he preceded her in death on July 4, 2016.

Janet was a member of Waynesburg Christian Church and was involved in the church's Ladies Aide. She enjoyed painting, doing ceramics, crocheting, and doing puzzles. Janet also enjoyed decorating for the holidays, baking, cooking, and just spending time with her family.

Survivors include children, Brenda (David) Shireman of Hartsville and Debbie Cox of Hope; grandchildren, Beth (Kevin) AmRhein, Justin Shireman, Michelle (Robert) Sackett, Jeff (Andrea) Elliott, Kevin Elliott, Glendon (Sarah) Cox, and Morgan (Ryan) Thayer; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Alva Dailey and Dale Dailey; and sons-in-law, Steve Fortner and Charles Elliott.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis; daughters, Beverly Elliott and Wanda Fortner; and siblings, Ernest Dailey, Harold Dailey, Homer Dailey, Clarence Dailey, Earl Dailey, Marion Boilanger, Irene Percifield, and Dorothy Whittington.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 3 at 2 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home with Pastor Jay Vanderbur officiating. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hope Moravian Cemetery.
