Jewel Mae Helton
Jewel Mae Helton, 80, of Greensburg, passed away at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, March 25, 2019 at Arbor Grove Village. She was born on May 26, 1938 in Westport, the daughter of Carl C. and Verna M. (Bishop) Mires. She grew up in Rodney and in 1958 she moved to Clarksburg with her husband. She had also lived in Phoenix, Arizona, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and had resided in Greensburg for several years. She graduated in 1957 from Sandcreek High School. She was a former day care owner and child care provider and had been a Librarian in Oklahoma City. She had also worked at the bank in Westport as a Bank Teller. She was a member of Clarksburg Covenant Church. She loved to sew and resize clothes to fit, rather than making them from scratch. She also enjoyed going to Gospel Sings, reading, enjoyed being outdoors and was avid bird watcher. Survivors include her daughter, Anita Joy Kinsey of Watonga, Oklahoma; sons, Dennis Lee (Barbara) Helton of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and James Kevin Helton of Greensburg, Indiana; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Frank Chester Mires, William Robert Mires and a niece, Cheri Mires. Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at the Rodney Cemetery with Rev. Daniel G. Smith.
