John C. Fasbinder, 77
John C. Fasbinder, 77, of Batesville, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2018, at The Waters of Batesville. Born October 1, 1941, he was the son of Clarence and Elsie (Abplanalp) Fasbinder.
He married Marita Meadows on September 7, 1968, and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last month.
John worked as a punch press operator at Hill-Rom Company for 44 years, retiring in 2005. He had a second job during that time at Obermeyer Marathon Station in Oldenburg.
John loved to fish and he was very good at it, though Marita laughed when she would go with him, sometimes catching more fish than him.
He loved to go to classic car shows and could identify the year of the car by the body style or by the car's taillights. With his fondness of the old cars, he enjoyed assembling classic car scale model kits at home as a hobby. He liked to go for "short" car rides, which usually ended up being three hours or longer.
His true passion though was his family and especially his four boys whom he was very proud that they all had graduated from college.
He is survived by his wife, Marita; sons and daughters-in-law, Scott (Lee Ann) Fasbinder of Batesville, John D. (Kendra) Fasbinder of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Anthony Fasbinder of Bedford, Indiana, Christopher (Kimberly) Fasbinder of Columbus, Ohio; sister, Joyce Kirschner of Oldenburg; brother, Thomas Fasbinder of San Francisco, California; grandchildren, Emmery, Cayleigh, Cole and Gabriel Fasbinder.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Fasbinder, and grandson, Chase Fasbinder.
Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, October 24 at Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville.
Funeral services begin at 11:30 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Batesville, with Rev. Stan Pondo officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family requests memorials to the Breaking Parkinson's Foundation.
