John William Meek


John William Meek, 72 of Milroy, passed away on July 17, 2019 in Indianapolis. He was born on May 26, 1947 in Greensburg, IN to the late John E. and Thelma (Wilhite) Meek. John was a 1965 graduate of Milroy High School and then received his Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education from Purdue University; where he was a member of the Farmhouse Fraternity. He then went onto IUPUI receiving his Master's Degree.
John taught subjects such as shop class, health, driver's education, and physical education at several schools including: Clark Pleasant, Milroy, New Salem, Rushville Elementary, and Rushville Consolidated High School. John was a member of Springhill Presbyterian Church and served as a Past Master of Milroy Masonic Lodge #139.
John is survived by his 3 sons, John T. Meek of Indianapolis, IN, Anthony W. Meek of Milroy, IN, David R. Meek of Rochester, N.Y.; 1 daughter, Amy Meek Littiken of Columbus, IN; twin sister, Martha Mullis of Rushville, IN; sisters, Nancy (Troy) Hill of Carmel, IN, Mary Jane (George) Truster of Manilla, IN. He will also be missed by his 3 grandchildren, Kayli A. Littiken, Taylor G. Littiken, and Caden S. Littiken; great-granddaughter, Rylynn J. Littiken; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his special friend, Paulette Colin.
John is preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at 1 PM in Moster Mortuary, with Pastor Shannon Burford presiding. Friends are welcome to visit the family Tuesday evening from 4 PM- 8PM in the mortuary. Masonic Service will be held at 7 PM during visitation Tuesday evening. Memorial contributions may be made out to Spring Hill United Presbyterian Church, 4250 South County Rd. 600 East, Rushville, IN, 46173.
