Loretta Halcomb Obituary

Loretta Halcomb, 94, of Knightstown passed away Monday, January 18, 2021 at Golden Living Center in Greenfield. She was born June 4, 1926 in Cincinnati, Ohio, a daughter of the late Elva and America (Lovins) Thompson.

She attended Metamora School where she met her soon to be husband, Walker. She worked beside her husband on the farm. While he was helping others she took care of milking the cows. Loretta loved spending time with her family and shopping. She was a member of the Classic One Travel Group and enjoyed traveling with her siblings.

Survivors include her daughter, Wanda Tirey of New Paris, Ohio; a son, Charles Halcomb of Knightstown; grandchildren, Gary (Jean) Halcomb, Allen (Jennifer) Houchins, Brenda (Mike) Todd, Randy (Julie) Halcomb, Barbara (Steve) Fort, Scott Halcomb, Josh Doughty and Lesley (Matt) Tice; 23 great grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Ruby Denham and Phyllis (Bob) Jacobs.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Walker; two great grandchildren; siblings, Donald Thompson, Dorothy Reece, Earl Thompson, Shirley Dixon; son-in-law, Don Tirey; and a daughter-in-law, Sharon Halcomb.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family with Brandon Grubbs officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery.
