Miley Joe Denney, 68
Miley Joe Denney, 68, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2016, at his home. He was born Nov. 8, 1947, in Shelbyville, the son of Bonnie Denney.
He attended Shelbyville High School. Miley married Leah Hauk on June 26, 1978, and she survives.
Miley lived in the area his entire life. He was a veteran of the US Navy, serving in Vietnam. He worked as an instructor at Atterbury Job Corp. for many years and was self-employed in the Log Home Maintaining business.
He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and Ninevah Masonic Lodge #317.
The highlight of Miley's life was watching his grandchildren grow up.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Gary (Brandi) Harris of Huntington; daughters, Leah (Mike) DeWitt of Shelbyville, Zella (Mike) Denney-Crose of Shelbyville and Sophia (Chris) Keith of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Tyler, Cierra, Cara, Camille, Michael, Glenn, Andrew, Glavin, Alexas, Arica and Leah; great-grandchildren, Sienna, Briar, Sutton, Parker and Lorelei.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Aric Denney; grandson, Miley Vaughn and grandmother, Zella Lockridge, who raised him.
Visitation will take place from Noon to 4 p.m. on Monday, April 25 at Glenn E. George and Son Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. with Rev. Alecia Gross officiating.
Memorials may be made to Riley Hospital for Children in care of the funeral home.
