Patty Burgess, 85, of Connersville, died Thursday, May 21, 2020 at Reid Health of Richmond.

Patty was born June 22, 1934 in Connersville to Jesse E. and Margaret Bickel Spangler. An Indiana native, she graduated from Connersville High School. On August 1, 1955, Patty married Keith D. Burgess in Brookville. She owned several local floral shops including, English Flower Shop, Bert Keller Florist, co-owned Riedmans Flowers and also was owner of the Rushville Glass. Patty enjoyed painting with water colors and had a green thumb for any type of flower. She belonged to the B.P.W., the CEC and volunteered with Carter Isaacs supporting individuals with arts and crafts. Loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.

Patty is survived by her special companion: Vernon Smith; sons: Daryl K. Burgess and Karen of Cary, North Carolina, Kenneth E. Burgess and Chrissy of Connersville; brother: Edward E. Spangler of Timberlake, North Carolina; sisters: Norma Demaree of Gray, Georgia, Marion Rockwell and Floyd of Okeana, Ohio; five grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; one great-great- grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Patty is preceded in death by her husband, three sisters: Carol Isaacs, Judy Cook, Kay Clark.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 2pm at Dale Cemetery, section L. Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made at the funeral home to Carter Isaacs.
