Paul E. Holzhausen, 90
Paul E. Holzhausen, 90, of Shelbyville, passed away Oct. 21, 2016, at Waldron Health and Rehab in Waldron.
He was born May 18, 1926, to Walter Holzhausen and Edith (Miner) Holzhausen in Decatur County. He married Louella (McClure) Holzhausen on Jan. 29, 1949, and she survives.
Other survivors include his son, Mike Holzhausen and wife, Diana, of South Bend; daughter, Connie Holzhausen Fix and husband, Brad, of Shelbyville; half brother, David Holzhausen of Shelbyville; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, James and Kenneth Holzhausen; brother, Harold Holzhausen; grandson, Christopher Holzhausen; and great-great-granddaughter, Allyssia Christman.
Mr. Holzhausen was a lifetime resident of the area.
He graduated from Greensburg High School in 1944.
Mr. Holzhausen was a veteran of the U.S. Navy who served during World War II.
He was self-employed at Comstock Standard Station for several years until he was bought out in 1991. He had also worked at Rodefeld's Auto Parts for 10 years and Chambers Aircraft for 10 years. He was also a part-time farmer.
He was a member of Fairland United Methodist Church.
Mr. Holzhausen was a member of American Legion Post No. 70 and the Antique Tractor Club.
Paul was part of the 2014 Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., honoring World War II veterans.
He enjoyed attending auctions and flea markets were his passion. He also enjoyed gardening, farming and spending holidays with his family and grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016, at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, Shelbyville, IN 46176.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, at the funeral home, with Pastor Jim Cherry officiating.
Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville, with a graveside military service performed by local veterans organizations.
Memorial contributions may be given to Fairland UMC, in care of the funeral home.
