Rushville, IN. - Phillip M. Kuhn, 85, a lifelong Rush County resident, passed away June 2, 2026 at his home. Phil was born December 7, 1940 in Shelbyville to Maurice W. & Kathryn (Purcell) Kuhn. His mother died when he was very young and was raised by his step mother, Wanda (Kemp) Kuhn. Phil married Judith Schmaltz on June 14, 1957 and she survives.

Phil believed in hard work and lived that belief through his love of farming. He farmed his family's farm, shelled corn many years for Pioneer Hybrid and drove many years for Kuhn Trucking.

He was a longtime member of the Homer Christian Church and the Rushville Church of Christ. He enjoyed tractor pulls, bird & coon hunting, fishing and time with his family & friends. He was also a member of the Muskrats of Rush County.

Phil is survived by his wife, Judy of Rush County, sons, Kevin E. (Patty) Kuhn, Kember (Mindy) Kuhn and daughter, Kathy (Kimber) Ging all of Rush County, daughter-in-law, Robin Kuhn, a brother, Jimmy Kuhn of North Carolina, sister-in-law, Pam Kuhn of Rushville, 15 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Phil was preceded in death by his parents, son, Walter "Bo" Kuhn, grandson, Kevin Scott Kuhn, great granddaughter, Karigan Ging, brother, Maurice W. Kuhn Jr. and sisters, Barbara Kay Rogers and Nancy Lee Crousore.

A graveside service will be held at 2 PM Friday, June 5, 2026 in the East Hill Cemetery in Rushville. Pastor James Coyle will preside. Seating will be limited so you are welcome to bring a lawn chair.
