Greensburg, Indiana - James Reece, 94 of Greensburg, passed away January 6, 2025 in Greensburg. He was born October 17, 1930 in Commiskey, IN to the late Eldon O. and Britomarte (James) Reece. James graduated from Vernon High School in 1950. He served in the United States Airforce from 1950-1954. After college he married Susie Gabbard on June 27, 1959 and she survives. James taught Elementary school for over 26 years. Throughout his career he pastored several small churches in Central Indiana as a Southern Baptist eventually working for Southern Baptist Association from 1990-1998. James served the Lord with great compassion and enthusiasm. He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church for over 20 years in Rushville.

In addition to the love of his life, Susie, he is also survived by his children, Bill (Mary) Reece of Kansas, Tim (Kathy) Reece of Greensburg, Joel (Priscilla) Reece of Richmond, Sophia (Mike) Kimm of Cambridge City and Sarah (Tom) Clark of Greensburg; sisters, Mary Anderson-Gapp, Ruth (Max) Kelley and Virginia (Joseph) Snakovsky. He will also be missed by 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several step grandchildren.

James is preceded in death by his parents, son, Bernard Reece; 2 great- grandchildren, 7 brothers and 2 sisters.

Services will be held Friday, January 10, 2025 at 1 PM in the First Southern Baptist Church, 1159 Airport Rd, Rushville, IN 46173, with Pastor Jeff Edwards presiding. Friends are welcome to visit the family from 11 AM until the time of service in the church. Burial will be held in Everton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made out to First Southern Baptist Church. Moster Mortuary is entrusted to the arrangements of James.
