Greensburg, IN - Richard Thomas Maxwell, 79, of Greensburg passed away at 1:26 a.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Franciscan Health Center Indianapolis. He was born on

September 28, 1946, in Greensburg, Indiana the son of George and Margaret (Culbertson) Maxwell. Richard was a lifelong resident of Decatur County and a 1965 graduate of Greensburg High School. He served in the National Guard in North Vernon & Seymour. He had been employed at Miller Equipment in Greensburg since 2001. He was a member of Adams Methodist Church, a former member of the Power of the Past and served on the Decatur County Fair Board for 5 years. Richard enjoyed antique tractors and toys. He is survived by his son, Peter Jason (Kimmie) Maxwell of Greensburg; his sisters, Martha Jane (Jon) Hanley of South Bend and Melanie Maxwell of Greensburg; his grandchildren, Gracie Maxwell-Shonk and Grainger Maxwell both of Greensburg, Lleyton Knecht of Florida and one great granddaughter, Lochlynn Shonk. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Nikki Knecht. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 28 at Bass & Gasper Funeral home with cremation to follow. A time of visitation will be on Saturday, February 28, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Power of the Past through the funeral home.
