William "Bill" Eugene Caldwell, 86, of Greensburg, passed away at 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Heritage House Nursing Home in Greensburg. He was born on December 7, 1932 in Sanders, Kentucky, the son of John Everett and Evelyn (King) Caldwell. He was born and raised in Kentucky and had been a Decatur County resident since 1969. He retired from the David R. Webb & Co. in 1996 after 19 years of service. He was a veteran having served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He enjoyed cutting wood, fishing, traveling, woodworking, and watching the Cincinnati Reds with Johnny Bench. He married Loretta Thrasher in St. Louis, Missouri on January 13, 1954. She preceded him in death on November 14, 2006. Survivors include his sons, Ronald Eugene Caldwell and Roger Dale Caldwell both of Greensburg; daughter, Donna Jean Bailey of Zenas; sister, Wanda Caldwell of Sparta, Kentucky; brother, Douglas Caldwell of Sanders, Kentucky; 7 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brothers, Walter Caldwell & Wayne Caldwell and grandson, Scott Caldwell. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Brother Denny Lee French officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Aerie Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Friday, April 19, 2019 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
